Child Protection Professionals?

My thanks,as ever,to Rantin Rab for bringing this story to my attention;feel free to access the story in full on his page,17 Feb,also on Canadian Content Forum on the same day.
Now,I was living in London at the time of the Dunblane massacre, but soon after,I moved back to Ayrshire for 5 years. During this time,I heard various mutterings about cover-up,links to high places, etc.
I confess that I put it down,at the time,to the usual conspiracy theorists with tinfoil helmets.
You know the type.
But now to read this story, and the level to which the cover-up has ALLEGEDLY reached, and the length of time that this cover-up has been going on,the lengths that those in authority are seemingly going to to keep it quiet,it all makes me wonder why I ever take anything at face-value anymore.
I thought I was by nature a cynic;now I know my instincts were correct all along.

TRUST NO-ONE,ESPECIALLY IF IN A PROFESSION WHICH MEANS THEY SHOULD BE ABOVE REPROACH,AND DON'T BELIEVE A BLOODY WORD FROM ANY OFFICIAL ORGANISATION.

MOST OF ALL,READ THE ORIGINAL STORY,AND BE RIGHTEOUSLY OUTRAGED AT EVERYONE INVOLVED.

AND LET OTHER PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT IT-IT'S STILL SUBJECT TO D-NOTICE IN THE UK,SO IT WON'T BE IN THE SUN ANY TIME SOON!

BOYS DON'T CRY-THE CURE

Aye,Boys Don't Cry,by The Cure. Those hazy days of the eighties when men were men,and so was our bloody Prime Minister! Can you imagine ole Maggie breaking down on national TV-all right, she did when Mark, the boy blunder, got lost in the desert, but I'm sure there was an onion or three involved-no,not a chance, and Robin Day and his ilk would never have allowed it.
Or Bernard Ingham? Tears on TV? Only from the unfortunate interviewer on receiving a pair of sore plums from Maggie's favourite bluff Yorkshireman.
So we move forward to 2010,with a more touchy-feely form of government-more answerable to the people, don't you know,so much more inclusive-and at virtually one and the same time,Gordon Brown and Alastair Campbell are putting on the waterworks. Coincidence? I think not....
With the PM,however, the subject is a very sensitive one,and I would defy any man in his position not to shed a tear;however,to have allowed the subject to be raised is at best an error of judgement. Campbell,on the other hand,I smell a rat.
This man would face down a charging elephant without blinking, take your best shot, and ask if that was the best you can do. In 16 years in frontline politics, and many years in the tabloids,he never flinched. So why now?
Why ask?

Poor old Gordon

Poor old Gordon Brown, you really have to feel for the bloke.
His entire existence has revolved around high level Labour politics, firstly in Scotland, then in Londonand finally on the international stage. It is fitting that the word stage is used, since his performance since becoming PM has been remininscent of those silent movie stars who were found to have squeaky voices or a chronic inability to act,as opposed to mime.
Having, and I admit it,always been a fan of the man(I ripped up the party membership when Blair became leader,so I'm not ALWAYS wrong),I looked forward to him becoming PM,thinking that we might see a bit of socialism injected into the scene. Nope, plenty of social engineering, plenty of tinkering at the edges, but precious little socialism,as he tried to keep Murdoch and big business onside.

Well,lie down with dogs.....

So now that we realise that this government is a busted flush, the question has to be asked...is this the last Labour government that the UK is likely to see? The reason I ask is that it will take a long time for the wounds to heal for a great many people, but more importantly, the people of Scotland will not submit to Tory misrule like they had to 30 years ago. The Scots WILL demand to go their separate ways, and it WILL happen. Now I'm no Scots Nat, but I remember the Tories spiteful rule, and when Scotland is no longer returning Labour MPs to Westminster, that's it!

Get set for uninterrupted Tory govenment until hell freezes over, and for those of you with short memories, especially if you are guilty of voting for them, may God have mercy on your soul-chances are, you'll be seeing him a lot earlier than you think, unless you have private medical insurance!

Well, here's a first for everyone. I'm sharing my opinions with all and sundry-and the pubs aren't even open yet! As a quick piece of background,I live in Swindon,am single, and in my mid-forties. By nature,I'm a Labour man,but my views can swing to the right of Genghis Khan, and I simply go with what I think is right according to the way I was brought up. So someone can agree with me one day,and be thoroughly offended the next. So what? That's THEIR problem.

Speaking of Swindon,I read in my local paper that our much-derided little village has been twinned with....DISNEYWORLD. Excellent, that should stop Jimmy Carr slagging us off,he'll be worried about having to visit for casting in the remake of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. Actually, casting Snow White locally might be a problem...

All that remains is to wish our snow white chancellor all the best in today's pre-budget attempt to soak the rich. Go on,Darling-for every fiver they earn, you tax 'em a tenner(you might not get that one unless you're Scottish, but it's my blog,my rules)
